Republicans Overseas is an official organization represented in over 40 countries. The organization formed in 2013 with the specific goal of repealing the Foreign Account Tax Compliant Act (FATCA) that was passed in 2010. FATCA requires all Americans living domestically or abroad to file yearly reports on their non-US financial accounts to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
According to Republicans Overseas, “FATCA was intended to prevent domestic Americans from illegally hiding their taxable wealth in foreign banks, but it has instead created significant hardships for law abiding overseas Americans.”
Democrats Abroad also opposes FATCA.
Republican Atheists connected with Republicans Overseas, Germany, a chapter that represents Americans in Germany that are registered Republicans. The representative was thrilled to speak on a Skype call and discuss American activity in Germany during the general election.
