Republican Atheists’ President was a big hit with international media
Republican Atheists’ President Lauren Ell was a big hit with international media to discuss the 2020 US Election as a Trump voter.
Ell is affiliated with Republicans Overseas, an organization that represents Republicans living abroad, as well as her own organization, Nordic Republicans, that represents Republicans in the Nordic region of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. These affiliations opened doors to international media connecting with her to hear her opinions as a Trump voter.
The most notable media outlet Ell collaborated with was SVT, Sweden’s national public television broadcaster, on the evening of November 3, 2020, to share her thoughts on the election during live coverage. She was also featured on Sweden’s national public radio broadcaster, Sverige Radio, on November 3, 2020, where she was featured alongside the president of the organization Democrats Abroad Sweden.
Outside of TV and radio, Ell was featured in a number of interviews that were published on news outlet websites throughout Sweden, and was even featured in a printed one page piece in Kuriren, a newspaper that serves Norrbotten County in Sweden.
Days after the election, Ell was contacted by producers of the Australian podcast “The Quicky,” a sub-podcast of Mamamia, one of the largest media outlets in Australia that is geared towards women. They wanted to hear Ell’s perspective as a woman Trump voter. Ell was featured alongside Chris Barreto, Republican National Committeewoman for Oregon, and Suni Danforth, Chairwoman of the Oregon Republican Party Finance Committee.
While the media did favor Biden voters and give them more coverage, Ell was surprised that the media outlets she collaborated with included the opinion of a Trump voter. She hopes that the media will continue to move in the direction of covering different perspectives on a level playing field.
