Supporting Students for Fair Admissions in case against Harvard

We are drawing awareness to a case called Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard that is set to be discussed by the Supreme Court some time in 2022. The case challenges Harvard’s student admissions process as being discriminatory against Asian Americans.

While Asian Americans are the top academically-performing students in the United States based on reports, they are often graded low on Harvard’s “personality” category when assessed by admissions officers. As a result, many Asian American applicants are denied admission, while students with lower academic performance are admitted.

In a video produced by Students for Fair Admissions, news clip reels from two news channels mention that admissions officers have made blanketed statements about Asian American students, calling them “homogenous” and “quiet.”

Reported in this video (below) produced by Wall Street Journal, a document reporting on admissions documents noted that Harvard admissions officers generally noted Asian American applicants as “smart and hardworking yet uninteresting and indistinguishable.”

While Harvard is a private university, it receives federal funding. Therefore Harvard is under scrutiny for violating civil rights law. This case has been combined with a similar case filed by Students for Fair Admissions against University of North Carolina.

It is unacceptable that the nation’s top performing students are rejected from universities based on their race.

We support Students for Fair Admissions in challenging Harvard’s discriminatory admissions process, and we hope the Supreme Court will decide in their favor. A decision is set to be made by June 2023.

On a final note, we advocate for affirmative action to be abolished and for students to be admitted to publicly funded universities and education programs based solely on academic superiority.
