The loss of Roy Latham, a great supporter of Republican Atheists
I was disappointed to recently learn about the loss of Roy Latham, one of our most recognized supporters.
Roy had no fear of being an outspoken atheist Republican as he held many hats in Republican Atheists, serving as a board member, West regional manager and California correspondent.
I had the pleasure of meeting Roy and his wife in 2019 in Lodi, California. He was courteous, well spoken and happy to meet. Occasionally he contributed to conversations among supporters of Republican Atheists and was appreciated for his detailed feedback. He also attended local Republican meetings where he was located in California.
In memory of Roy, here is a brief description about himself that he provided to Republican Atheists:
“I have been interested in reasoning and debate for 50 years, and active on the Internet since the mid-90s. I have over 200 debates (about 200 wins, 15 loses) on debate.org, if you would like to see some. My degrees are in engineering, computers, and statistics, so I like science topics like climate change. I worked in Silicon Valley for 30 years, including 20 with my own tech startup. My company did real time graphics for entertainment and flight simulation. I edited and published a professional newsletter on computer graphics. I retired a few years ago. I also travel regularly to Arizona; we have a house near Phoenix. My wife is an immigrant from Taiwan; she has a PhD in mathematics.”
Thank you for your support Roy.
Best,
