Republican Atheists’ President launched new organization Nordic Republicans
Republican Atheists’ President and Founder Lauren Ell is proud to announce the launch of a new organization known as Nordic Republicans, with the purpose of connecting Republicans throughout the Nordic region in countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. This organization will also serve as Republican representation in the Nordic region.
There are Americans located throughout the world who have the opportunity to cast their votes in US elections. It is important that these Americans are aware of their voting rights and can connect with groups representing the political party they are registered with. This is where Nordic Republicans comes in. Ell has been living in Sweden for over two years and has gradually been building connections with Republicans throughout the Nordic region, as well as all over Europe. She has acknowledged there is a need for Republican organization in the Nordic region.
There are two primary groups that currently represent Americans living abroad – Democrats Abroad and Republicans Overseas. Democrats Abroad receives funding from the Democrat Party, while Republicans Overseas receives no funding from the Republican Party and relies on membership dues. Nordic Republicans operates independently from Republicans Overseas.
Some of you may recall that after domestic votes were counted in the 2016 US presidential election, Democrats reminded everyone that the international votes were still being counted. It is ideal that Americans abroad are remembered, participate in voting and stay connected while overseas.
